Egypt 2021
Cairo Wedding
Magdy and Aya shared their love and beauty during their week-long wedding in Giza. Curtis W. Callaway doesn’t photograph weddings, but friends with location, location, location were a special exception.
Siwa Oasis
Defining this oasis as the oracle temple of Zeus in a field of trees near Libya explains concepts. Arriving in a below sea level depression reveals a multitude of cold and hot springs, abounding date palm trees and desert dunes with sand dollar fossils. Who’d a thunk it?! Deserts exude miracles.
Salt Pool
Siwa salt pool created my fun float boat pose version of yoga’s Navasana pose.
Minnesota 2021
Dog Sledding
Sledding behind my team of four dogs in Minnesota’s Superior National Forest brought extreme joy experiencing beauty in snow, ice, trees, lakes, birds, dogs and people up north!
I'll argue with anyone who says God doesn't bring unexpected miracles in the midst of unexpected frustrations like coronavirus limitations.
White Wilderness Yurt
“Home Sweet Yurt” kept us warm and cozy each night. This Minnesota yurt reminded me of sleeping between kiddos inside the family’s yurt in Mongolia. Ahhh, yurts are sweet!
Boundary Waters Fishing
Ice fishing is way cooler than you’d imagine! I jig and jerk with fish better than I dance…
Jordan 2020
Petra
This Arabic Treasure stands me still. Awestruck. Completely incomparable to the US Treasury. . . .
Hakim’s Bedouin Tent
We sit low while we talk, eat and smoke with Bedouins. Hakim creates his grandmother’s musical rhythm while grinding coffee beans with massive mortar and pestle.
Camel Market
Curiosity, kindness and fresh mint tea (without a common language) bonds me with these Cairo guys.
Egypt 2020
Cairo
Climbing to observe medieval citadels. Wearing a hijab (with my messy attempts) spoke to Muslim women for me with honor and love in our eyes, our smiles and our hugs.
Camel Trek
Trusting camels releases desert wonder. Trekking through the oasis Moses once traveled takes me back in time.
Nile River
Boat below boat brightens beauty. Kings tombs and temples underground and underwater made Luxor luxurious.
